Rare Star Explosion Coming

Photo: From Quarks to Quasars

A long-dead star in the constellation named Coronae Borealis, is excepted to explode into a nova soon. It's 3,000 light-years away from Earth and will be so bright that it will look like a complete new star. Scientists are calling it T Coronae Borealis which last erupted in 1946 so it wouldn't happen again for another 80 years. Astronomers are watching the night sky closely as you might be able to see it soon with a naked eye. This all happens when a white dwarf takes material from a nearby red giant and once it builds up the pressure and the temperature rises, a thermonuclear explosion happens. The significant burst can potentially make stars shine thousands of times brighter for only a short period of time. It's one of the most amazing phenomena's we can see with a bare eye. NASA and other observatories are set to capture the explosion and you can possibly join them in this viewing. The star expected to be brighter than Polaris!
