SoCal, it's time for the glowing blue waves to return! The Ocean Institute is a nonprofit organization based in Dana Point and is hosting a Bioluminescence Night Cruise throughout the summer. Guests are invited to board the cruise for a chance to see the glowing waters cause by the seasonal algal blooms. The cruises are expected to sell out as it'll also provide educational information for everyone onboard. Each guest will gain a better understanding of the beautiful blue waves and learn how the organisms do it. Experts say the booms also indicate the change of ecological conditions and environmental shifts. The cruise will include observing marine life under a squid light, seeing a deep-sea net emerge to gather plankton, viewing organisms under microscopes, and talking with the educators. The new cruises will set sail between 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. from late May to late October and open to all ages.
