Your dog can be the next movie star! The Air Bud franchise back to the theaters and are in search for their new leading star. The film's producers are looking for a purebred golden retriever to take on the iconic role for the upcoming Air Bus Returns. The original 1997 movie focuses on a young boy and his dog who can play basketball. Since then, the franchise has created 14 films including two spin-offs for Christmas. Dog owners can submit their pets for the role on the official website found here. Even if their dog isn't chosen, they can still be selected to win a variety of prizes like Air Bud jerseys, signed movie merch, and even a trip to the film's premiere. The producer wants to make sure the next Air Bud already is athletic just like original. The original dog was also on "America's Funniest Home Videos" and "Letterman" before the movie even went into production. Safe to say the golden retriever is iconic. Unfortunately, Buddy died of cancer before any of the sequels. The new Air Bud is set to be released in summer 2026.
