Photographer Shawn Miller is turning hermit crabs' plastic homes into proper shells. One night, Miller was out documenting nature when he noticed hermit crabs were using trash as their shells. He saw many other crabs doing the same thing by using bottle caps and other plastic pieces of trash. He began a project called Make the Switch 4 Nature where he gives the hermit crabs the correct shells. He takes shells with him in his backpack and surrounds any crab who is using the plastic with the emergency shells. By doing this, the hermit crab immediately switches over. Miller receives numerous donated shells from around the world and carves motivational messages into them. He suggests to participate in beach clean ups to help the marine animals and leave a big impact.
