ABC has canceled Rosanne because Barr went on a racist Twitter rant against former Obama adviser, Valerie Jarrett.
The now deleted Tweet referred to Jarret as a "Muslim brotherhood and Planet of the Apes." Rosanne later apologized for what she said, but it was too late. According to TMZ, ABC said in a statement, "Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show."
Just before ABC announced the cancellation, producer Wanda Sykes quit the show, apparently because of Rosanne's comments. Co-star Sara Gilbert took to Twitter to write her disappointment in Rosanne's choice of words, "Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least."
Just days after its return to TV, Rosanne was renewed for a second season after reeling in 18 million viewers.
