A new video game, called Active Shooter, is set to release on June 6, however, many parents, including parents of the Parkland shooting victims, are upset that a kind of game like this even exists and will be released to the public.
The game has been described as a "dynamic SWAT simulator." Players can choose to be a SWAT team member to try and disarm the shooter. Game stats appear on the screen with how many police officers and civilians were killed. There is also a screen showing the 'active shooter' trying to get away, but also shooting at other civilians trying to escape.
Parents of Parkland high school shooting victims have expressed outrage over this new game.
"I have seen and heard many horrific things over the past few months since my daughter was the victim of a school shooting and is now dead in real life. This game may be one of the worst," said Fred Guttenberg, father of Marjory Stoneman who lost her life during the Parkland shooting.
