Comedian Roseanne Barr tearfully broke down during an interview that was taped the day after she was fired from the ABC sitcom that bears her name.
During an interview with he spiritual friend Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, Barr said she "horribly" regrets sending tweets that many called racist. One tweet in particular, compared former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett to an ape.
In the podcast, Barr appears to be crying as she tells Boteach she has black children in her family and she "can't let 'em say these things about that, after 30 years of my putting my family and my health and my livelihood at risk to stand up for people."
In the days after her firing, Barr pointed to her use of Ambien as a reason behind her ill-advised tweet. In the podcast, she said: "There's no excuse. I don't excuse it," she said. "It's an explanation. I was impaired you know."
Will Roseanne ever get another shot or is this her exit from the entertainment world? Should she be forgiven after a certain amount of time and contrition?
