Head Coach Luke Walton Leaves Los Angeles Lakers After Losing Three Seasons

The Los Angeles Lakers have announced Friday morning that they have agreed to part ways with head coach, Luke Walton following the loss of three straight seasons. Lakers general manager, Rob Pelinka, announced the departure.

"We would like to thank Luke for his dedicated service over the last three years," said Pelinka. "We wish Luke and his family the best of luck moving forward."

The news comes three days after president of basketball operations Magic Johnson abruptly resigned. Johnson has been vocal about his resignation in part being due to wishing to fire Walton. Many have been upset with Walton, former Lakers forward, for not leading the team to the playoffs even after Lebron James arriving.

"I want to thank Jeanie Buss and the Buss family for giving me the opportunity to coach the Lakers," said Walton. "This franchise and the city will always be special to me and my family."
