Everyone has a different tradition on how they prepare their turkey for Thanksgiving.
According to several health agencies, they are saying don't wash your turkey before cooking it!
Amy Keating, who is a consumer reporter stated "You can’t wash off bacteria with water, and rinsing out the turkey risks splashing its juices all over the sink."
Experts are saying to open plastic wrap and drain any liquid into the sink before throwing the packaging out, then pat the turkey dry with paper towels and wash your hands and utensils with hot water and soap when you are finished.
If you wash raw meat before cooking, bacteria in raw meat and juices can spread to other foods, utensils and surfaces.
