When there's sunshine, people want to go out and enjoy it.
Thousands of people were seen at beaches in Southern California this past weekend, amid the COVID-19 stay-at-home order.
Even though beaches in LA and San Diego Counties remain closed, they were open in Ventura and Orange Counties. Authorities in both counties reported that behavior by the beachgoers were observing social distancing.
One lifeguard of Newport Beach said "People are being very cooperative and observing the social distancing rules."
The LA County Sheriff Department sent out a reminder to residents that they should still be avoiding beachside hangouts.
