For the first time, in honor of May the Fourth, Disney is showing a real working Star Wars lightsaber!
Unlike every other toy or pretend lightsaber where the blade is a clear tube that lights up at the press of a button, the blade here retracts into the hilt and then extends as it turns on.
The reveal was made on Disney Parks Blog! It was created by Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development and it will be used for the first time at Walt Disney World's upcoming Star Wars Hotel which is scheduled to open in 2022.
