According to research, a link between COVID-19 showed what plant-based eaters were 73% less likely to come down with the virus compared to those who include animals in their diet. Pescatarians, whose protein source is fish were at a 59% lower risk!

This new study was published in the BMJ Nutrition Prevention & Health, based on these findings on a self-reported questionnaire. Among the submitted total of 2,884 individuals, 568 had confirmed cases of coronavirus. 138 said they suffered moderate to severe symptoms, while the remaining 430 experienced mild effects of the illness.

Of those who reported illness, 41 claimed to be on a plant-based diet while another 46 were pescatarian. Study authors said "Our results suggest that a healthy diet rich in nutrient dense foods may be considered for protection against severe COVID-19.”
