Parents will see new changes when LAUSD opens starting next week.
There will be better air filtration, more frequently cleaning and additional safety protocols you'll need to know about before your child can enter the classroom.
Medical director Dr. Smith Malhotra said that the district created multiple layers of protection starting with a mandatory baseline COVID-19 negative test result and must be taken within two weeks of the start of school.
Parents will need to complete a daily online questionnaire and any symptoms detected at school will be considered COVID-19 until verified. Masks will also be worn indoors and outdoors.
LAUSD is not issuing a vaccine mandate, but vaccines are strongly encouraged for those who are 12 and older.
