Teachers and school staff will become the latest group in California who must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or get tested on the regular.
Newsom is reportedly set to announce the new requirement at some point today when he visits Alameda County. The requirement would be the first statewide mandate for K-12 educators in the country and comes as students across the Golden State head back to classrooms due to a spike in cases fueled by the delta variant.
This movie marks a departure from last week when Newsom said that he had no immediate plans to require teachers to get vaccinated.
