Charlie Watts, the drummer for the Rolling Stones has just passed away of age 80.
He stepped down from his role in August 2021, following an undisclosed medical procedure, just before the band was set to re-launch a tour postponed by the pandemic. To replace him was Steve Jordan, the drummer of Keith Richards' group the X-Pensive Winos.
A spokesperson for the band said "It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Charlie Watts. he passed away peacefully in a London hospital earlier today surrounded by his family. Charlie was a cherished husband, father and grandfather and also as a member of The Rolling Stones one of the greatest drummers of his generation.”
