Fitbit Recalling 1.7 Million Smartwatches With Overheating Batteries

Fitbit is recalling 1.7 million smartwatches over a faulty battery that can burn the user.

For the Ionic device, the model number (FB503) is on the back of the device near where the band attaches. Fitbit is printed on the front of the Ionic Smartwatch.

The company says the battery inside the Fitbit Ionic Smartwatch can overheat and possibly cause a serious burn.

78 burn incidents have been reported in the U.S. so far, with six of them involving second or third-degree burns.

Customers should stop using their smartwatches and return them for a refund.
