The USDA has given two California companies the green light to sell the Franken-bird to restaurants, with grocery store sales to follow before the end of the year.
Dr. Uma Valeti, a cardiologist who runs Upside, one of the companies chosen, said the decision enables the company to “pursue a more sustainable and more humane future for animals, people, and the planet.”
When the meat does arrive on store shelves, it will be labeled as "cell-cultivated."
