Dr. Cameisha Denise Clark, a dean at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology, was identified as the victim in a tragic shooting that occurred on Friday in Inglewood. The shooting also injured another employee, a 37-year-old receptionist, who remains hospitalized in stable condition. The suspect, Jesse Figueroa, a 40-year-old security guard from Monterey Park, has been charged with murder and attempted murder, along with firearm-related offenses.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman announced the charges, emphasizing the severity of the crime and the impact on the community. "Any student, faculty member or employee should feel safe and secure going to school," Hochman stated. Figueroa faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison if convicted.

The shooting took place inside an office on the Spartan College campus. Dr. Clark, aged 35, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to her injuries on Monday. Her family described her as "the most compassionate, loving and fiercely loyal person," highlighting her contributions to education and her recent promotion to dean.

Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts confirmed that Figueroa was recently hired as a security guard at the college. The investigation revealed that a 9mm shell casing was found at the scene, and a gun was discovered in Figueroa's vehicle when he was apprehended by Los Angeles Police Department officers.

Spartan College's president, Chris Becker, expressed deep sadness over the incident and assured that counseling services would be provided for students and staff.
