A Los Angeles County probation officer, Michael Solis, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly smuggling drugs into Barry J. Nidorf Juvenile Hall in Sylmar.

The arrest follows a criminal complaint accusing Solis, 59, of conspiring with two juvenile detainees to distribute Xanax within the facility between May and August of 2023. This incident is linked to a teen's fatal overdose at the juvenile hall in 2023.

Prosecutors allege that Solis facilitated the drug trade, compromising the safety and rehabilitation efforts of the facility.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about drug access within juvenile detention centers. Solis faces serious charges, and the investigation continues as authorities seek to address the breach in security protocols.
