The Ranch Fire erupted near Apple Valley in San Bernardino County on Tuesday, rapidly consuming over 4,200 acres. As of Wednesday morning, the fire had reached 10% containment, with evacuation orders still in place for areas between Milpas Drive and High Road, south of Highway 18.

According to Cal Fire, the blaze started around 2:30 p.m. near Bowen Ranch Road and Roundup Way. The fire has already destroyed one home, and firefighters continue to battle the wind-driven flames. Weather conditions remain critical, with low humidity and gusts up to 26 mph expected, contributing to the fire's aggressive behavior.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department issued a Reverse 9-1-1 alert to notify residents of the evacuation orders. An evacuation shelter has been established at Sitting Bull Academy in Apple Valley, and an animal evacuation center is available at the Victorville Fairgrounds.

The fire is under Unified Command with CAL FIRE, San Bernardino County Fire, Apple Valley Fire Protection District, Bureau of Land Management, and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. A Damage Inspection Team has been ordered to assess the impact on structures.

Residents are urged to stay alert for updates and follow official guidance as firefighting efforts continue in the high desert region.
