Start your engines and tighten your ponytails—Universal Studios Hollywood just pulled off a turbocharged mic drop with the unveiling of it's new roller coaster car for: “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift.” Scheduled to launch (literally) in 2026, the ride will tear through the park at 72 MPH, officially becoming the fastest coaster in the entire Universal Destinations & Experiences portfolio. That’s right—this coaster is faster than Roman’s mouth during a heist.
HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
- Top speed: 72 MPH (eat your heart out, Jurassic World)
- Track length: 4,100 feet of scream-inducing, snack-regurgitating twists
- Fully rotational ride vehicles = actual drifting sensation
- Ride route: Over the park’s famous multi-level escalator. RIP churro stands below.

Currently under construction, “Hollywood Drift” features state-of-the-art 360-degree spinning vehicles that mimic the signature sideways skids of the Fast & Furious films. The fully rotational ride vehicles will create a seamless sensation of drifting cars as guests spin in motion at furiously fast speeds while being catapulted along an aerial track that winds its way over sections of the theme park, including the multi-level escalator that connects the Upper and Lower Lots.
Guests will queue inside an expansive, garage-themed structure that oozes oil-slicked street cred. Inside, you’ll board one of four custom-designed ride vehicles modeled after the franchise’s iconic cars, including a faithful recreation of Dom Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger, now on display for photo ops in the park Plaza.
"Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift’ will be a powerful game changer for Universal Studios Hollywood that will not only transform the topography of our destination but will infuse an entirely new level of adrenaline to our already dynamic theme park," said Scott Strobl, Executive Vice President & General Manager, Universal Studios Hollywood. "We look forward to riding it ourselves and to welcoming guests to experience it in the very near future.”

The unveiling of the coaster car comes as Universal Studios Hollywood is turning up the heat with Mega Movie Summer, running daily from Friday, June 13 through Sunday, August 10. The event offers fresh ways for guests to cool off, connect with friends, and party movie-style in the park.
Here’s a preview of what’s in store:
- Jurassic World—The Ride gets a prehistoric upgrade with new dinos, a Mosasaurus Splash, and a meet-and-greet inspired by Jurassic World Rebirth, hitting theaters July 2.
- Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jaws with the return of the iconic hanging shark, new appearances by Captain Quint and Chief Brody, and a trip to Jaws Lake on the Studio Tour.

The new coaster will join an elite lineup of blockbusters-turned-rides, including Super Nintendo World, Jurassic World: The Ride, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and Revenge of the Mummy—which is still terrifying but now officially not the fastest.
And in case you forgot: the Fast & Furious franchise is Universal’s most profitable, with $7 billion in box office earnings, 11 films, one Hobbs, one Shaw, and more gear-shifts than a TikTok trend.
