Hollywood is serving up a mix of nostalgia, animated fun, and indie charm this week with the release of The Naked Gun (2025), The Bad Guys 2, and Sketch.

First up, The Naked Gun swings for the fences in reviving the iconic slapstick series made famous by Leslie Nielsen. The reboot leans into absurd humor and over-the-top sight gags, with Liam Neeson surprisingly nimble as the bumbling detective Frank Drebin, Jr. While some jokes feel recycled, the movie earns big laughs and keeps the spirit of the original alive for a new generation.

Meanwhile, DreamWorks’ The Bad Guys 2 continues the stylish capers of the reformed animal criminals who can’t quite stay out of trouble. This sequel doubles down on heist action and slick animation, delivering a family-friendly ride that balances humor with heart. Fans of the first film will enjoy the colorful characters and fast-paced fun.

Finally, Sketch, a heartfelt family film, follows a young cartoonist who finds her doodles coming to life in increasingly absurd situations. The film blends relatable storytelling with clever visuals, offering a lighter counterpoint to the week’s bigger studio releases.

Comedian and entertainment journalist Heather Brooker talks with KFI’s Gary and Shannon for their weekly entertainment report to break it all down for you. She says this weekend’s lineup offers “a perfect mix of laughs—whether you’re in the mood for nostalgic slapstick, animated mischief, or offbeat indie charm.

Heather also shares details about her upcoming standup show at The Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena! Tickets are available now.
