Where To Celebrate Chinese New Year In Los Angeles

Happy Chinese New Year! The 15 day celebration begins Tuesday, February 5th. This year, we ring in the year of The Pig and Los Angeles is ready to celebrate! Check out a few places that will be ringing in this year of good luck and fortune.


CHINATOWN will ring in the year of The Pig tonight (Monday Feb 4th) with a midnight ceremony at the Thien Hau Temple . There will be LOTS of people gathered to make offerings, awaken spirits with firecrackers and burn incense. 10p kicks of the celebration with lion dancers and monks.

QUEEN MARY invites us aboard for lion and dragon dancing, acrobatics and a guzheng ensemble. The entertainment comes after a seated dinner feast on Tuesday, Feb 5th and kicks off at 6pm!

CHINATOWN will host it's 120th Chinese New Year Parade and festival in downtown Chinatown. Face-Painting, storytelling, paper folding, alongside ping-pong, food trucks, a craft beer garden all to compliment the Golden Dragon Parade! (Hill and Ord Streets to Broadway and Cesar Chavez from 1-3p this Saturday, Feb 9th!)

ALHAMBRA knows how to bring in the Chinese New Year. Check out their Lunar New Year Festival , Saturday, Feb 9th.starting at 10a! 250 food and craft booths line the streets while lion dances and kung fu demonstrations take over Valley Boulevard between Almansor Street and Garfield Avenue.
