Local Artist Paints Custom Cleats of Carlos Correa For The World Series

posted by Blog Producer Noe Rodriguez -

Houston's very own David E. Maldonado was chosen by Adidas Baseball to represent our beloved city in The World Series with a custom painting of Carlos Correa's cleats. David is a 23 year old Mexican American artist who's paintings bring forward a sense of community and peace. David is not only an artist but he is also a singer, song writer who's passion was always to give back and invest into local talent. He is the founder of Pan Dulce HTX, a creative night for the local youth to come together and create art, perform music, recite poetry, hear a positive message, and most importantly share Pan Dulce (sweet bread) with one another over a cup of coffee. David Maldonado embraces the city's diversity through his art and through this local event so it is no surprise he was chosen to represent Houston as the Astros moved on to The World Series.

I personally spoke to David regarding this incredible opportunity and this is how it all came about:

AdidasBaseball contacted me to see if I was interested in working on a project that included working on custom painted cleats for Carlos Correa if and when they advanced to the World Series.

I was excited. I think for me not only was it a great opportunity to make some cool art, but to tell a story and include the amazing heart Houston that was expressed during and after Hurricane Harvey.

Below are the cleats David painted for Correa, this is the first pair out of two that was custom painted. These shoes were used  by Correa himself during game number one in Los Angeles.

It is incredible to capture the heart of Houston on an unusual canvas like baseball cleats, but David E. Maldonado has done an outstanding job doing so. Let's wish The Houston Astros a World Series Championship Win and let us continue rooting on for our beloved city.
