Fresh off his Best Picture and Best Director win for "Shape Of Water" at the Oscars, Guillermo del Toro is still hard at work. Not only is the Mexican/American director co-writing "Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark," (you may remember as a popular kids story) but he's also lined up to direct a non stop motion musical version of the Disney classic, Pinnochio.
It's set to go directly to Netflix and won't be as scary as the original animated classic.
del Toro says, "The film will be set in Italy during the 1930's, a particularly fraught historical moment and a time when Fascism was on the rise and Benito Mussolini was consolidating control of the country. Production on Pinnocchio will begin the fall."
He is a big fan of the story and the character and has "wanted to make this movie for as long as [he] can remember."
