How do the modified DC10 Airplanes deliver their firefighting power?!
- The Air-tanker looks and sounds like a commercial airliner, but it's been converted to hold 50 tons of water or fire retardant, which can be dropped in a long line to set a perimeter to keep the fire from spreading!
- It drops 12,00 gallons in about 8 seconds!
- Once it drops the load or water or retardant, the tanker heads back to refill which takes about eight minutes. Usually, we can see a series of planes rotating every few minutes working in a system.
