Although the creator of Spongebob Squarepants has recently passed of ALS at age 57 on Monday, he is far from forgotten.
Fan's of the show have started a petition asking the NFL to add something special to the next halftime show at the Super Bowl. This petition is requesting a performance of "Sweet Victory" and already has about 300,000 signatures!
In an episode called "Band Geeks", Spongebob put on an '80s-style halftime show at the fictional Bubble Bowl and sang this song.
As of now, Maroon 5 is reportedly playing the halftime show at Super Bowl LIII in February. Maybe this petition will help inspire Adam Levine to channel his inner Spongebob Squarepants and belt out some "Sweet Victory" lyrics? We can only hope!
