Adding earthquake insurance in California may not be as feasible as you think. Yesterday, I was on the phone with my home insurance calling to inquire about earthquake insurance. Before I could even finish my sentence, the customer service representative let me know that adding earthquake insurance is not an option right now. She took my information and said once it becomes available in the next few months, she'd give me a call to let me know. So, what did I learn to pass onto you? Call your home insurance, ask to be notified about earthquake insurance options and to be placed on a call back list for when the insurance is available.
