It's true! Amazon is opening up their first new brand of grocery store in California as of next year.
It will be opening in 2020 in Woodland Hills which is a neighborhood in Los Angeles. It will be different from the Amazon- owned Whole Foods according to the company. As of right now, there is no word on whether there will be more locations opening up, pricing of items or even what the brand name is.
When you look at the job postings, the company describes it as Amazon's first grocery store. So people are suspecting that it will maybe be it's own brand name.
Checkout will be just like other grocery stores, they will not be using Amazon Go technology. The store just posted job openings for a store lead, grocery associates and food service associates. Before becoming the grocery store, it was a former Toys R Us.
