Governor Newsom Unveils A Hotline To Keep Senior Citizens Connected

To keep seniors connected while staying at home, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that the state of California will be partnering with AARP, the Alzheimer's Association and other groups to set up a hotline to help them stay social.

These association's are helping set up a hotline that helps seniors get questions answered and direct them right to support services. If you know a senior in need of help or someone to talk to, the number they should call is: (833) 544-2374.

California is also partnering up with the 2-1-1 essential community services to help connect people with any service they might need. In this state alone there are 5.7 million people over the age of 65 and an estimated one million live alone. So, the "Stay Home. Save Lives. Check In" campaign urges all California residents to check in on their older neighbors with a simple call, text or physically distanced knock on their door, just to make sure everything is ok.
