Boy Scouts Of America celebrated a milestone last week! It was the first ever class of female Eagle Scouts!
There were over 1,000 young women that were awarded the organization's highest rank of Eagle Scout last week, two years after the Boy Scouts began allowing girls to join. Only 6% of Scouts ever become Eagle Scouts, the requirements include 21 merit badges and a large service project.
According to one Eagle Scout, Isabella Tunney, she stated "As a girl, when I stepped up to leadership positions I was often called bossy, which is a terrible thing to tell any young girl who is stepping up and trying to help out a group. Scouting taught me how to be a great leader."
