The CDC is currently revisiting their guidelines for wearing facemasks outdoors.
Dr. Rochelle Walensky said the agency is currently looking at the outdoor masking question along with if vaccinated people can still spread the virus. Many states passed on outdoor mask mandates have already lifted them or are considering doing so in the coming weeks.
"We'll be looking at the outdoor masking question, but also in the context of the fact that we still have people who are dying of Covid-19."
Current guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention makes it clear masks MIGHT not be needed outside. It says "Masks may not be necessary when you are outside by yourself away from others, or with people who live in your household."
The CDC does not say anything specific for vaccinated people at this time.
