The Los Angeles County Fire Department just demonstrated how dangerous even safe and sane fireworks can be.
According to Hilda Solis, Los Angeles County Supervisor said that even fireworks that are labeled safe and sane are illegal in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, including East Los Angeles. Firefighters are putting out the word that with severe drought conditions and extreme heat, just a mere spark could ignite an out-of-control destructive wildfire.
Los Angeles County Fire Chief Daryl Osby encourages the public to visit a professional fireworks show to have a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July. If you set off fireworks, it could cost you and there will be patrols looking for violators.
The effort to reduce illegal fireworks comes with the 4th of July holiday weekend.
