Long Beach is now encouraging students to get vaccinated for the fall school year due to a rise in COVID cases in children.
Some experts urge the FDA to authorize vaccines for children under the age of 12 amid a nationwide rise in COVID-19 cases among kids. Now, Long Beach is partnering up with its education officials to get K12 and college students vaccinated against COVID-19 before the fall school year starts.
The Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services is offering extended hours and more vaccination clinics at Long Beach Unified School District, Cal State Long Beach and Long Beach City College.
According to Mayor Rover Garcia, he stated "We strongly encourage all community members, especially students headed back to in-person learning, to protect themselves and help keep our city healthy by getting the vaccine."
