Jennifer Hudson says she thinks she knows why Aretha Franklin chose her for 'Respect.' Any guesses?!
Hudson's career started back in 2004, when she became a finalist on American Idol, she auditioned for the reality signing competition with Aretha Frankin's song, "Share Your Love With Me." Now, a Grammy winning singer and Academy Award winning actress, handpicked by Aretha Franklin is playing her in the biopic, Respect.
Hudson said "This is beyond singing and acting.I think she saw something in me...I would not have been able to go as deep as I did to tell the story in an honest way without my own life experiences. So, I think she saw that in me, as well as everything else as far as being an actress and a singer."
Respect tells the story of Franklin's rise to fame as a little girl in her father's church to megastar who became the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll.
