Instead, he was presented with a generous $50,000 college scholarship. This heartwarming moment was witnessed by Alvarado's mother, Irene Rodriguez, and his siblings, who were equally caught off guard by the surprise.
Rodriguez, a single parent who faced significant financial challenges while raising her five children, expressed her astonishment when she first saw the scholarship check.
The absence of Rodriguez's husband, who passed away five years ago, has been one of the family's most significant challenges. As a result, Rodriguez took on the responsibility of being the sole breadwinner, ensuring that her children could focus on their studies. She described this as an incredibly difficult task, requiring her to summon strength from within to mend their broken hearts.
Alvarado expressed his father's constant encouragement to excel academically and strive for higher goals. His father always urged him to concentrate on his studies and pursue a successful future. Alvarado felt an immense sense of accomplishment being able to say, "I did it, dad."
Alvarado's aspirations include attending Stanford University, where he plans to major in mechanical engineering and pursue a career at NASA. His goal is to make a significant impact in the field of engineering and contribute to the space industry.
